I still can’t see him as anything other than Chandler from Friends even though he has long left that character behind. Now Matthew Perry has a new role, as Mike the charming lawyer on The Good Wife. CBS announced the news yesterday that Matthew will be joining the cast, and that his first episode will air at the end of March.
Part way through last year we heard that Matthew took himself back to rehab to work on his addictions as a way of working on himself as an ongoing life-long goal. His commitment to his well-being became obvious then, as well as committing himself to his roles and staying clean for them. We saw this with his work on the ABC show Mr Sunshine and now again, with him scoring a recurring role on The Good Wife. This is a good sign that Matthew is doing well…

Legal drama, The Good Wife has had some good, solid actors grace its set including Chris Noth (aka “Mr. Big”), Michael J. Fox and Julianna Margulies (from ER). I think this is a great spot for Matthew to have gotten as a recurring role. It will get him back into the swing of things TV series wise, and it will be good for him to have a long term character to focus on. I am sure it is a sign that he is feeling well and doing great. Lets hope the character has some classic ‘Chandler-isms’ so that we can see some of Matthew’s comedic charm shine through.
