Already today we have had news about law suits and legal claims with Adele suing a French tabloid, now we have news that Michael Jackson’s Estate is in a legal debacle with the King of Pop’s former manager, Tohme Tohme, who is claiming he is owed more money. MJ fired his manager 3 months before he died and TMZ has obtained legal docs claiming “Tohme got Michael to sign agreements that earned him a fortune for doing nothing”. The reports are claiming that Tohme got MJ to pay him tens of thousands of dollars a month plus expenses as a flat fee regardless of what work he actually did. What’s more is that when Michael was on tour, Tohme got him to pay him hundreds of thousands of dollars. He also got MILLIONS of dollars for making a financial ‘introduction.’ Now he says he is owed MORE…hmm… did someone say extortion?

According to the papers, Estate attorney Howard Weitzman claims Tohme got MJ to agree to pay him $35,000 a month plus expenses as a flat fee — regardless of what work Tohme performed. On top of that, Tohme inked a deal that gave him 15% of any money Michael made. And there’s more …Tohme introduced Michael to a lender that refinanced Neverland. In return, Tohme got Jackson to pay him $2.4 million — just for the introduction. And Tohme got MJ to promise him 10% of any profits if the Ranch was sold. Tohme also got MJ to agree to pay him $100,000 a month for the “This Is It” tour.
Tohme is taking the Estate to court to get remaining money he claims that he is owed. MJ’s Estate is trying to showing that Tohme extorted the star out of millions of dollars while he was still alive as a way of shutting him down. The King of Pop’s lawyers are planning to stop the case and seek damages from him for bringing this case in the first place.
I find it unbelievable hearing about the HUGE amounts of money that some managers of celebs are paid, but this just sounds ridiculous! $2.4 million for a mere introduction to a finance lender! I think Tohme was clearly taking advantage of Michael, who probably wasn’t in his most rational states when he was working with his manager. He was fired just before Michael died too which says that Michael was maybe onto him in the end. The fact that he has the audacity to say that he is owed MORE now is what is so crazy, and quite amusing really in some ways. The scary thing is though that MJ’s Estate will probably have to pay him at least some of what he is saying that he is owed, to make the case stay out of the courts and settle the matter.
